The paving work previously scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12 has been postponed to Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16 and 17.
Through daylight hours on March 16-17 (weather permitting), traffic at the intersection of Del Amo and Lakewood boulevards will be down to one lane in all directions as crews work to repave the intersection. This is one of the final major steps in this year-long construction project to improve that busy intersection.
Start and stop times will depend on the weather conditions, as there are temperature requirements for the asphalt concrete.
If you can, please plan an alternate route during daytime hours to avoid the intersection as traffic is expected to be very heavy.
Crews will be working throughout the day and will sometimes need to hold all traffic for a period of time while workers grind and pave the intersection.
The lanes will re-open Tuesday and Wednesday evenings after 5:30 p.m. when crews have finished for the day.
The City of Lakewood secured full funding from L.A. Metro for this major project to widen the roadway and construct dual left-turn lanes in all four directions of the intersection at Del Amo and Lakewood boulevards. The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of April, is designed to ease the flow of traffic through this very busy intersection.
