Assemblywoman Janet Nguyen responds to Governor Newsom’s State of the State address

Assemblywoman Janet Nguyen offered her response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s State of the State address:

“Our communities and families are suffering. Our schools are still shutdown, our businesses are still closed or only partially operating, and unemployment benefits are still delayed. We trail states like Mississippi, West Virginia and New Mexico in getting people vaccinated. Yet, the Governor stepped up and described a thriving California. Unfortunately, the people in my district do not see the thriving state.

“I am disappointed that it apparently takes a recall effort for our Governor to begin to take a hard look at the damage he has caused during this pandemic. Last night, he pointed many times to his decisions being made based off science. Yet, science and evidence has shown that kids can safely go back to school, businesses can operate under health and safety guidelines and small businesses like nail salons did not deserve to be closed longer than other businesses that naturally has more customers.”

“I hope moving forward that the Governor can listen to the people he represents and work with my colleagues and I to do what is best for all Californians.”
