USO Launches Mobile Farmer’s Market on Board Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton

USO San Diego will launch its first Mobile Farmers Market at Camp Pendleton on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 12pm-2pm for hundreds of military families, providing perishable and non-perishable food and essential items. April is designated as Month of the Military Child, honoring and celebrating the children of military families who sacrifice and serve throughout moves and deployments. To greet and thank military families and children, the Easter Bunny will be on-site assisting with the distribution.

The USO continues to strengthen our military through enhanced programming aimed at informing troops and their families of smart nutrition choices and increasing their access to more healthy food options. Quarterly mobile food distributions at Camp Pendleton will continue through 2021. In accordance with CDC guidelines, participants must remain in their vehicles and will be provided pre-bagged items.

USO San Diego provides monthly mobile food distributions throughout San Diego County – including at the USO at Liberty Station – through programs like Mobile Farmers Market and Groceries on the Go, and offers virtual programming engagements for military families through the Nutrition in the Kitchen series.

Annually, USO San Diego provides nearly 300,000 service instances through its four USO Centers, mobile, and expeditionary outreach programs to all bases and installations within the County. The USO Location at Camp Pendleton provided over 90,000 instances of service in 2020 and this number will continue to grow in 2021.
