The public is invited to attend the General Meeting of the La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the American Association of University Women on Thursday, April 15, 2021. It will be a Virtual Zoom meeting in the evening, starting with a Waiting Room opening at 6:30 p.m. A presentation by guest speaker Judy Osuna on the topic of “The Benefits of Meditation on the Brain and Body” will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Judy Osuna is a Community Outreach and Education Manager at the Alzheimer’s Family Center of Huntington Beach. She is an inspirational speaker, teacher, licensed counselor, and author of the book, You Do Not Have to Be Behind Bars in Prison, You Are the Key to Freedom. She is also a Minister at Downey center for Spiritual Living and has taught the art of meditation to hundreds of seniors and even to men in prison. She traveled to India and met with the Dalai Lama as she sought a greater purpose to be of service. This brought her back to the Alzheimer’s Family Center of Huntington Beach where she serves the community by reaching out to help people with her Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group and also her “Mind Booster” courses.
At the Alzheimer’s Family Center of Huntington Beach, Judy Osuna is the facilitator for the Alzheimer’s Disease online Family Caregiver Support Group that meets every Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. She also is the facilitator for a “Mind Booster” course that meets in April on Mondays and on May 3 rd , from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The course was designed for people who are concerned about memory loss and wish to keep their minds active. Osuna’s presentation on April 15th will be followed by a brief business meeting of the La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the AAUW. The branch’s Nominating Committee has prepared a proposed slate of officers, but there is still opportunity for members to nominate other persons for the 2021-2022 board. The office of President-Elect is still open. Members will be voting to elect their officers for 2021-2022 at this meeting and will hear reports about current branch activities.
