The Rossmoor Woman’s Club honored Los Alamitos High School seniors Jack Munson and Andy Fong as students of the month for March and April, respectively.

Jack Munson is an active member of the Los Alamitos High School’s arts community and a member of the school’s award-winning Show Choir Program. Since his freshman year, he has won two national titles, as well as numerous local competitions as a member of SoundFX, Los Alamitos’ advanced mixed choir, and he is currently one of five Vocal Music Chairs of the group. Over summers, he works with K-8 students at Xcite! Summer Camp, a performing arts camp put on by the school, teaching kids to sing and dance, hoping to inspire future musicians and performers. He is a member of both National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation as well and has kept a cumulative GPA of 4.3. In college, he hopes to pursue degrees in both commercial music/voice and business.

Andy Fong runs the Math Club and Math Honor Society at Los Alamitos High School and is a co-president of a volunteer club called Students Against Hunger. He is also a proud member of the school’s award-winning Choir Program since tenth grade. Every year since his sophomore year, Andy has qualified for the prestigious U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) run by the American Chemical Society, scoring within the top eleven or so of all students in Orange County on the qualifier exam. In 2020, he was recognized with Honors after scoring in the top 146 of the over 1,000 students taking the USNCO nationwide. As an avid science lover, Andy enjoys sharing his love for science as a Magic Show host for the Growing Up STEM club at the high school, conjuring fireballs through hydrogen ignitions and performing color-changing miracles through redox reactions to blow away the minds of local elementary school students and observers alike. Andy plans to study chemistry at MIT later this fall.

Each student received a certificate and $600 scholarship award from the Rossmoor Woman’s Club.
