Kevin Faulconer responds to Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 announcement

Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer – the leading candidate to recall Gavin Newsom – released the following statement in response to Newsom’s announcement:

“Gavin Newsom’s unscientific COVID-19 restrictions have led to crippling job losses, countless businesses closing their doors permanently, and students across this state losing an entire year of in-person education. His response to this pandemic has been nothing short of disastrous and it took millions of Californians signing a recall petition for him to finally begin reopening our state. Newsom has shown that he’s only motivated by his own political survival, not doing what’s best for Californians. If he truly wanted to help families across this state, he would reopen all public schools for in-person learning now.”

  1. And now we hear Newsom is going to (possibly) open California June 15. Convenient for the Teacher’s Unions, don’t you think? Yeah, let’s open just as the regular school year is done so teachers can refuse to go back into the classrooms until next September. Kudos to the Cypress School District for offering options for in-class, hypbrid or Zoom instruction, depending on parents wishes. Shame on Anaheim Union High School District for shutting down for over a year and kowtowing to the Union.
