Lakewood Community Dialogue: Racial equity, diversity, and inclusion

A key part of the City of Lakewood’s ongoing Community Dialogue on racial equity is creating Quarterly Roundtable discussions with Lakewood residents to hear their thoughts and suggestions on ways to build on all the good in Lakewood and make the community the safest, most welcoming place it can be, for everyone.

Join us from the comfort of your home on Zoom for the FIRST of these new Quarterly Roundtables on Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI). The meeting will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. (We of course hope to hold these meetings in person as soon as health precautions allow.)

Topics will include a progress report on implementing the Community Dialogue Action Plan passed by the Lakewood City Council in January 2021. The Action Plan was based on input from hundreds of Lakewood residents in 2020 and includes:

  • The creation of a Multicultural Food Festival for Lakewood.
  • More community talks with Sheriff’s personnel.
  • Finding ways to celebrate the cultural diversity that is a wonderful characteristic of Lakewood.

See the full Action Plan here.

There will be plenty of time for questions and comments during the Roundtable discussion. Representing the Lakewood City Council at the meeting will be Council Members Ariel Pe and Vicki L. Stuckey. (State public meeting rules limit attendance to two council members. Lakewood City Council Members will rotate for each of these Roundtables in the future.)
