April 8, 2021
Vehicle Burglary – 8:20 a.m. – 7700 block of Valley View St. – Property was reportedly stolen from a locked vehicle between 4 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. The loss was a dash camera valued at $150. Report taken.
Counseling – 10:32 a.m. – 8200 block of Walker St. – The father of freshman and senior baseball players had been verbally aggressive with the freshman baseball coach by phone. The school banned the father from all sporting events, and the father removed his freshman son from the baseball team, though the varsity player son was still on the team. The school requested that an officer attend the varsity game at 3 p.m. to keep the peace in case the father showed up.

Municipal Code Violation – 8:19 a.m. – Erow/Edison Right-of-Way – A rottweiler was reportedly with its owner while not on the leash. Unable to locate.
Grand Theft Report – 9:16 a.m. – 5000 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – Equipment was reportedly stolen from behind a locked fence enclosure. The loss was a plate impactor valued at $3000. The equipment was rented. The owners had been advised. Report taken.
April 10, 2021
Traffic Stop – 1:26 p.m. – La Palma/Collins – A vehicle took off from a traffic stop. Police stopped the vehicle. One subject was detained and subsequently arrested for battery against a police officer, evading a peace officer, and obstruction. The subject was transported to the hospital. The subject posted bail and was released to his family.
Petty Theft – 5:24 p.m. – 5900 block of La Palma Ave. – Three female subjects reportedly took cosmetics and left in a vehicle. Report taken.
Suspicious Subject – 7:18 p.m. – Centerpointe Dr. – A female subject reportedly tried to open the front door of a building. Security stated that the business does not open on Monday. The subject told Security that she wanted to go inside and did not have a key to the building. Police contacted the subject, who was a transient that was contacted earlier in the week. The subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Dispatch was requested to contact local businesses to see if they had any thefts of gift cards. The female was additionally arrested for theft of lost property and receiving known stolen property.
April 11, 2021
Incident Report – 11:20 a.m. – 8400 block of Moody St. – Gray smoke was reportedly getting worse from a house in the area. It was determined that the smoke was from outside of La Palma’s jurisdiction.
Domestic Abuse – 2:21 p.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The reporting party was reportedly punched in the back by her husband. Medics were refused. Police arrested a 60-year-old male subject for domestic battery. An emergency protection order was delivered.

Drunk Driver – 9:31 a.m. – 91 Fwy./Orangthorpe – A possible DUI driver was reportedly swerving and making unsafe lane changes. Unable to locate.
Vandalism Report – 8:44 p.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The door of a mailbox was open. There was no appearance of forced entry. No crime. No report taken.

Suspicious Subject – 10:54 a.m. – Valley View/Patton – A subject was reportedly seen looking inside vehicles. Police were unable to locate the subject on a patrol check.
Counseling – 6:19 p.m. – 8000 block of Danby Ln. – The reporting party requested counseling regarding inappropriate texts from an unknown adult to their minor daughter. The daughter was uncooperative with her parents.
April 14, 2021
Found Property – 1:27 p.m. – Montaire/Walker – Cerritos Public Works received a call regarding a hypodermic syringe. Assisted.
Animal Call – 2:30 p.m. – 4500 block of Sharon Dr. – The reporting party was concerned that dogs from the residence would break through the damaged retaining wall. A dog could fit its head in the wall.
Disturbance (Neighbor) – 6:37 p.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The reporting party was outside watering plants when a neighbor approached the reporting party and accused him of tampering with a vehicle. No crime. No report taken.
April 15, 2021
Identity Theft Report – 10:26 a.m. – 7900 block of Comstock Cir. – The reporting party received a phone call from a scammer who had her driver’s license information. There was no loss. Counseled.
Counseling – 12:39 p.m. – 5200 block of Blairwood Dr. – The reporting party advised that the homeowner was on the property of a red-tagged house. Police contacted the subject, who advised that he had paperwork with permission from the City to be at the location. Police determined the paperwork to be valid.
