Recall supporters speak out as recall effort passes verified signature threshold

Harmeet Dhillon Comments on Recall of Governor Newsom Qualifying

RNC National Committeewoman for California and civil rights attorney Harmeet K. Dhillon issued this statement in reaction to the recall of California Governor Gavin Newsom qualifying for the ballot.

“Tested by the fire of a major crisis over the past year, Governor Newsom’s mettle turned out to be fool’s gold,” Dhillon said . “Let’s review the facts. Governor Newsom has failed to reopen schools, destroyed countless businesses, driven hundreds of thousands of residents out of the state, lost us a Congressional seat, exacerbated the homeless crisis, forced unconstitutional restrictions on places of worship leading to a half-dozen defeats at the Supreme Court, placed last in the country at vaccination distribution, mismanaged California into one of the worst wildfire seasons in memory, failed to prepare for the upcoming drought, overseen a dramatic increase in crime, and the list goes on and on. California, once known as the Golden State, has lost its luster under Governor Newsom’s epic mismanagement, and Californians deserve better.”

Anne Dunsmore Comments on Recall of Governor Newsom Qualifying

Campaign Manager for Rescue California, Anne Dunsmore issued this statement in reaction to the recall of California Governor Gavin Newsom qualifying for the ballot.

“Now that the election to recall Gavin Newsom is inevitable, he will have to explain himself to millions of Californians who have had to suffer thru not just his mishandling of the covid crisis, but his mismanagement of the homeless crisis, the jobless crisis, the energy crisis, the wildfire crises, the water crisis, the education crisis and the loss of $35 billion in jobless benefits…he will have to explain to jobless Californians why he brags about a surplus when millions of jobless benefits haven’t been paid FROM 2020 and why people are still homeless.

And he owes an apology to the millions of people who signed the initiative for calling them racists…and irrelevant…and doomsayers and naysayers. He will have to explain himself to 76% of the parent of school age children in Los Angeles who think his flip flopping management of his back to school policies irreparably damaged their children academically and emotionally…according to a UCLA poll. He will have to apologize to the United Teachers of Los Angeles who thought his back to school policy was structural racism.

And hopefully he will see that political bullying backfires…you don’t lead by silencing people, you lead when you listen, have compassion and find solutions.”
