April 22, 2021

Disabled Vehicle – 7:13 p.m. – Walker/Montaire – During an investigation of a disabled vehicle, police conducted a DUI investigation and performed field sobriety tests on a 45-year-old subject who was subsequently arrested for DUI. The vehicle was towed from the location.
Area Check – 11:52 p.m. – Valley View/Orangethorpe – The reporting party advised that a friend posted on Instagram about a crime that occurred in Hawthorne. The reporting party believed that they saw a similar vehicle headed northbound on Valley View at Orangethorpe. Incident transferred to Buena Park Police Department.

April 23, 2021

Public Works Information – 10:19 a.m. – Robin/Denni – A large amount of water was reportedly in the area and coming from an unknown source. It was determined that the water was coming from a slightly overflowing pool in a backyard. The water pump was turned off and the water flow and Denni decreased significantly.
Counseling – 11:58 p.m. – 7900 block of Walker St. – The reporting party was upset with the service at the location and requested to speak with an officer. The reporting party was contacted and advised regarding misuse of 911. No assistance needed.

April 24, 2021

Welfare Check – 4:22 p.m. – 4600 block of La Palma Ave. –Patrol Check – 8:35 p.m. – Walker/La Palma – Orange County Street Racing Task Force advised that there was a confirmed street racing takeover for the city. Dispatch was requested to contact WestComm to advise officers from neighboring agencies to monitor La Palma Police Department’s primary communications channel. Approximately 50 modified vehicles headed eastbound on La Palma. Six vehicles from Buena Park Police arrived in the area. The subject vehicles were driving on the wrong side of the road and one subject almost hit a sergeant unit. Approximately 10 California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the location. The vehicles dispersed and left the city. A debriefing with all agencies took place at the parking lot.
Suspicious Subject – 11:42 p.m. – 7000 block of Coventry Cir. – An unknown subject was reportedly seen hopping a fence and going into the backyard. Police responded and a neighbor stated they saw a male subject running from a house on Coventry. Buena Park Police units, including a drone operator arrived on the scene to help with a search. The keys to the suspect vehicle were left on the seat. Police issued announcements and conducted a search of various backyards. The Buena Park officers were eventually released and headed back to their city. Dispatch was requested to contact law enforcement in Riverside to see if the registered owner of the vehicle knew where his truck was. The registered owner spoke with La Palma Police and stated that the vehicle was lent to a friend, whose phone was in the truck.

April 25, 2021

Counterfeit Currency – 1:43 p.m. – 5500 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The reporting party stated that he attempted to use a $20 bill at a gas station, but they advised the reporting party that th ebill was counterfeit. Report taken.

April 26, 2021

Trespassing – 4:01 p.m. – Centerpointe – Security was at the location after staff reported that a female subject hopped the fence and was inside an electrical box. Police contacted and identified the subject, who was subsequently arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

April 27, 2021

Person Down – 8:55 a.m. – 5900 block of La Palma Ave. – A subject was reportedly face down to the rear of the location. The subject did not look like he was breathing and smelled bad. OCFA responded. The subject was confirmed deceased and actively rotting. The Coroner was notified and responded. The subject was possibly identified with a State Benefit Card. A biohazard clean-up crew responded to the location.
Suspicious Circumstances – 12:16 p.m. – 5300 block of La Luna Dr. – A female subject asked for help while a male subject attempted to get away. The female advised that she would kill the male. Police made contact with both parties, who were separated. A witness advised that the male got in a vehicle then the female chased after him. The female made the comment to a witness “See him? I’m going to kill him” regarding the male half. Both then got out of the vehicle and the male ran into the backyard. The female went after him, kicking the gate. It was determined that no physical violence took place and there was a verbal argument regarding rent. There was a heavy language barrier, so what she was verbally saying did not translate to her intention. The female was only in fear because he was mean to her. Advised to contact La Palma Police if there were a further disturbance.
Suspicious Vehicle – 11:16 p.m. – Nancy/Sharon – The reporting party believed that a vehicle that was following her from one year prior was in the neighborhood. Police located the vehicle, which was unoccupied. The reporting party did not feel safe at the residence and left. Incident unfounded.

April 28, 2021

Suspicious Vehicle – 9:15 a.m. – Montecito/Denni (Cerritos) – The caller reported a subject unknown to the area loitering in a vehicle near the gate. A second subject in the vehicle was possibly on drugs. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
Suspicious Subject- 7:09 p.m. – 5200 block of Verner Dr. – The caller believed that a male subject was looking at vehicles. Police contacted the subject, who was determined to have outstanding warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges. The subject was arrested and transported to Orange County Jail.
