The Youth Center’s Camp S.H.A.R.K. comes back with a splash

The Youth Center has opened registration for this year’s Camp S.H.A.R.K. and Teen camp, providing a wide range of fun activities, sports and field trips for kids, and safe, healthy childcare for adults. Camp S.H.A.R.K. begins June 14th and runs through August 13th.

Camp S.H.A.R.K. (Science, Hands-on, Art, Recreation and Knowledge) is a fun and unique Summer camp, offering kids ages 5 to 12 themed weekly events and individualized daily classes, including water filter fun, clay molding, baseball, outdoor scavenger hunt, overnight salt crystals, an escape room and more. This summer’s weekly themes include The Great Outdoors, Baseball, The Wild, Wild West, Under The Sea Oobleck, Pirates and Buccaneers and more. Camp S.H.A.R.K. is offered on a daily or weekly basis, with regular and extended hours, to fit any busy family’s schedule.

“Parents are growing more and more concerned about the amount of time their kids are spending in front of screens,” said Kim Lazaro, Camp Director for The Youth Center. “Our Camp S.H.A.R.K. and Teen Camp programs were designed to help keep kids more physically active and mentally stimulated, while taking them away from their screens,” she concluded.

Teen Camp is offered to youth ages 12 to 17, keeping kids on the go enjoying sports, outgoing activities, and field trips each week. Each camper’s personal interests are considered as the kids help choose activities for the week every Monday morning. In addition to adventures they select each week, campers will also enjoy planned field trips to Knott’s Berry Farm, OC Fair, K1 Speed, Disneyland, Catalina Island, and more. Teen Camp is offered on a weekly basis, with a six-week summer pass available to take the ‘bite’ out of tuition.

Financial assistance scholarships are available for families who are unable to afford full program costs. For more information or to apply for a program scholarship, visit www.theyouthcenter.org/scholarship-application.
