May 20, 2021

Counseling – 11:24 a.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The reporting party hired a moving company to transport property from La Palma to Texas. The property was picked up on April 19 and was supposed to be delivered within 21 days. The reporting party believed the company was a scam and did not know if it was a civil or criminal issue. It was determined to be a civil matter. After further investigation, many people had the same issue but received their property at a later date.

May 21, 2021

Transient – 10:46 a.m. – De Vries/La Palma – A subject was reportedly sleeping on the sidewalk. Police contacted the subject, who was conscious, alert, and breathing. The subject was offered service but declined and headed westbound on La Palma.
Citizen Assist – 1:07 p.m. – 7900 block of Walker St. – Staff at the hospital were reportedly refusing to see a female patient in a wheelchair. Staff stated that the patient took the hospital’s wheelchair. OCFA was contacted to see if they’d respond for the female’s complaint of pain to the back as the hospital was refusing service to the subject. The subject was transported to another hospital by ambulance.
Business Check – 1:57 p.m. – 5900 block of La Palma Ave. – Police received information fourth or fifth-hand that an unknown subject attempted to place a skimmer on an ATM at the location. Police checked the ATMs and found no signs of tampering.

May 22, 2021

Traffic Stop – 2:01 a.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – During a traffic stop, one subject was detained in cuffs. The subject was subsequently arrested for battery on a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, texting while driving, altered license plates, no proof of insurance, possession of a controlled substance, an outstanding felony warrant, and driving on a license suspended or revoked for DUI.
Found Property – 7:11 p.m. – 6800 block of Walker St. – A Christmas tree was reportedly found under the bridge. Police were unable to determine if it was trash or stolen.
Assist Outside Agency – 7:58 p.m. – 1700 block of Orange (Huntington Beach) – La Palma Police assisted with riotous conditions in Huntington Beach. An emergency request for immediate assistance was made at approximately 9:23 p.m. Three La Palma units responded to assist.

May 23, 2021

Disturbance (Subject) – 11:32 p.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – A transient was reportedly attempting to fight customers and employees. The subject was advised regarding trespassing and was cooperative with police.

May 24, 2021

Disturbance (Subject) – 8:59 a.m. – 6500 block of Valley View St. – A security guard reported that an intoxicated employee was refusing to leave and was in an area near the parking lot. Police made contact and a 20-year-old subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Suspicious Subject – 7:38 p.m. – 7900 block of Walker St. – A subject was seen urinating in the bushes in front of the location. The caller stated that the subject refuses to be seen by staff but had been dropped off by other agencies several times that evening. Party advised and will comply.

May 25, 2021

Citizen Assist – 9:29 a.m. – 5000 block of Scott Cir. – The caller reported that a sprinkler had been shooting water in the air for several hours. It was determined that this was a water feature on a pool.
Traffic Stop – 11:25 p.m. – Orangethorpe/Centerpointe – During a traffic stop, the driver advised that the female passenger needed medical assistance for stroke-like symptoms. The female was transported to the hospital. Afterwards, the male driver complained of chest pain and was also transported to a different hospital. The subject was cited and released to the care of nursing staff.

May 26, 2021

Traffic Collision – 10:25 a.m. – Houston/Walker (Buena Park) – Police responded to a traffic collision with unknown injuries. The vehicle was still smoking and hit a wall after possibly being struck by another vehicle for unknown reasons. One subject was transported to the hospital. A dog was to the rear of the traffic collision and was injured with lacerations to the face. The vehicle was towed from the location and caution tape was placed on the damaged wall, which was determined to be structurally sound.
Disturbance (Subject) – 5:24 p.m. – Centerpointe – Subjects were reportedly heard yelling in a room, with possibly objects being thrown around. Police were asked to keep the peace as the subjects vacated the room. Party advised and will comply.
