UPDATE! Warner Avenue Bridge Demolition

Crews will demolish the Warner Avenue bridge over three Saturday nights, under full freeway closures.

Additional nighttime demolition will occur for several weeks under freeway lane closures on weekdays. Some daytime demolition also is anticipated.

The NB and SB I-405 freeway closures are set for 11 p.m. Saturday, June 5 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 6.

Demolition is also anticipated June 12 and June 19*.

NEW! Heil Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Falsework Installation Activities

Crews will perform striping work and install k-rail to begin falsework installation for the new Heil pedestrian bridge over the I-405. This work will require partial lane reductions of the I-405 between Magnolia Street and Newland Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursday, June 3.

Additionally, crews will begin falsework installation for the Heil pedestrian bridge over the I-405. This work requires full NB and SB I-405 closures.

UPDATE! Bolsa Chica Road Girder Installation

Crews will install pre-cast concrete girders for the Bolsa Chica Road bridge over I-405. The girders are the main horizontal support beams, known as the superstructure, the abutments and center columns.

This work will require SB and NB full freeway, lane and ramp closures.

UPDATE! Sidewalk Closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for Signal Work

Crews will close the sidewalks at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue for permanent traffic signal construction.

Activities include the removal of existing sidewalk ramps, installation of new sidewalk ramps, electrical and foundation work.

Permanent traffic signal construction began Tuesday, June 1 and will continue for approximately six weeks on weekdays.

Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson will be intermittently reduced to two lanes at the intersection for the duration of the work.

Nighttime temporary traffic signal removal and permanent pole installation are anticipated in early-July.

UPDATE! Edinger Avenue Bridge Falsework Activities

Crews will be making adjustments to the falsework for the Edinger bridge over I-405. This work will require a NB I-405 freeway closure.

NB I-405 freeway closure is set for 11 p.m. Wednesday, to 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3.

NEW! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Magnolia Street to Close for Approximately Six Weeks

Crews will close the SB I-405 off-ramp to Magnolia for approximately six weeks as early as 10 p.m. Monday, June 7 to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include removal of the existing ramp, excavation, placement and compaction of base material, rebar and concrete work, paving, drainage installation, electrical work and striping.

UPDATE! Euclid Street Closures for Waterline Installation Work

Crews will continue installing a new drainage system across Euclid. This work will require Euclid closures between the freeway ramps and Mount Washington Street.

UPDATE! Eastbound (EB) Lane Reductions for McFadden Avenue Bridge Monument Work

Crews will continue constructing the McFadden bridge monument over I-405. This work will require EB lane reductions on McFadden between Pacific Street and Gothard Street.

Lane reductions are anticipated to begin as early as Tuesday, June 1 on weekdays and weeknights, for approximately two weeks. Daytime works hours are anticipated 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and nighttime work hours are anticipated 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

UPDATE! Partial I-405 Freeway Lane Reductions for Excavation Work for Goldenwest Street Bridge

Crews will perform excavation work and pile installation in the center median of the Goldenwest Street bridge over the I-405. This work will require partial lane reductions of the I-405 freeway between Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest.

The partial I-405 lane closures are set for 5a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, June 7, for approximately one month.

COMING SOON! Bolsa Avenue Traffic Switch

Crews will close Bolsa between Goldenwest and Chestnut for approximately one weekend to accomodate the freeway widening in mid-June.

Crews will close the NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa for approximately three months to accommodate the freeway widening in mid-June.

REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closed for Approximately 8 Months

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to the WB SR-22 on April 13, forapproximately 8 months to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include demolition, excavation, grading, drainage and electrical system installation, concrete pours and asphalt paving.

REMINDER! Partial Lane Closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for Temporary Signal Work

Crews will continue traffic signal and pedestrian ramp construction work at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue.

This work requires lane reductions of Seal Beach Blvd. between Old Ranch Parkway and St. Cloud Drive. Additional closures at the Seal Beach Blvd. and Lampson intersections are anticipated.

Work is anticipated to continue, for approximately five weeks on weekdays and weeknights.

REMINDER! NB I-405 On-Ramp from Westminster Boulevard Closed for Approximately Seven Weeks

Crews closed the NB I-405 on-ramp from Westminster on May 11 for approximately seven weeks to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Magnolia Street Closed for Approximately Three Months

Crews closed the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Magnolia on May 11 for approximately three months to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Bolsa Chica Road Closed for Approximately One Year

Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Bolsa Chica on Oct. 27, 2020 for approximately one year to advance construction on the Bolsa Chica bridge.

REMINDER! NB I-405 and SR-73 Off-Ramps to Fairview Road Closed for Approximately 100 Days

Crews closed the NB I-405 and SR-73 off-ramps to Fairview on April 5, 2021, for approximately 100 days to accommodate the freeway widening.

Construction Activities

Almond Avenue

COMING SOON! Demolition and reconstruction of the sound walls along Almond Avenue are anticipated to commence as early as June 2021. Crews will install a temporary sound barrier prior to demolition.

Crews are scheduled to demolish a segment of the sound wall along Almond Avenue between Dahlia Circle and Jasmin Circle adjacent to the NB I-405.

A new wall and new drainage channel will be constructed as part of the freeway widening. A temporary fence and sound blankets will be placed during reconstruction of the sound wall.

This work is set to begin as early as Thursday, June 3, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one month on weekdays and Saturdays as needed.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some nighttime activity may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Brookhurst Street

REMINDER! Crews will continue to work on the foundation of a wall along the NB I-405 off-ramp to Brookhurst Street.

I-405 near Bolsa

REMINDER! Crews will continue working on the foundation of the wall along SB I-405, south of Bolsa Ave.

Edwards Street

REMINDER! Crews began working on the foundation of the retaining wall adjacent to Buckingham Park along the NB I-405 near Edwards bridge. The foundation consists of approximately 51 cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activity may occur at night.

Fairview Road

REMINDER! Crews are continuing work on the retaining wall along SB Fairview between South Coast Drive and the NB I-405 on-ramp to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include removal of portions of the wall and footing, excavation and backfill.

This work will continue through Thursday, June 10.

Daytime work hours are scheduled for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews may mobilize as early as 6 a.m. Nighttime work hours are scheduled for 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work will require intermittent lane reductions on Fairview between South Coast and McCormack Lane.

Milan Street

COMING SOON! Sidewalk, curb and gutter work along Milan between approximately Stratford Avenue and Lowell Circle has been postponed to June.

Milton Street

UPDATE! Crews will begin restoration work at Milton Street. This work will require intermittent lane reductions in both directions. Parking will be unavailable between Hope Lutheran Church and Willow Lane.

Activities include drainage system installation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and concrete work,

This work in anticipated to begin as early as Monday, June 7 for approximately two weeks.

Daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with crews mobilizing as early as 6 a.m.

SR-73 Connector

REMINDER! Crews are scheduled to work on the foundation of a retaining wall along the SB I-405 connector to SB SR-73. The foundation consists of 9 CIDH piles. This activity includes augering large holes, and installing forms and steel cages, and pouring concrete into the holes to form the piles.

The work will continue through Friday, June 4. Work hours are scheduled for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews may mobilize as early as 6 a.m.

REMINDER! Crews will continue work on new retaining walls along the SB I-405 connector to SB SR-73 to accommodate the freeway widening. Activities include removal of existing retaining walls, excavation, and shoring installation.

Daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with crews mobilizing as early as 6 a.m. Nighttime work hours will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work is anticipated to continue on weekdays and Saturdays for approximately three weeks. Nighttime work is anticipated to occur throughout this duration, as needed.
