Gov. Newsom has no plans to end his emergency powers

On Friday, June 4, Governor Newsom announced that he has no plans to relinquish his disastrous ‘one-man’ rule.

“If Newsom believes the state is safe enough to reopen, then it’s safe for people to be able to make decisions for themselves without his arbitrary and capricious rules,” said Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita). “I believe it is time for him to hang up his crown and restore our democracy. In California we don’t grow bananas, so there’s no need for a banana republic.”

Republican Senator Melissa Melendez (R-Lake Elsinore) introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 5 (SCR 5) which would terminate the governor’s emergency powers. Legislative Democrats have refused to schedule SCR 5 for committee hearings.

“Since the governor refuses to relinquish his crown, the Legislature should pass SCR 5 and do it for him,” said Wilk.

  1. Gov Newsom thinks he’s a dictator. One of many reasons to recall him! Everything he says or does is wrong. Newsom has to go! I would vote for a Coffee table over Newsom (or any Democrat).
