Huntington Beach announces new Mayor Pro Tem

The Huntington Beach City Council held a Special Meeting to consider filling the role of Mayor Pro Tem, which was vacated by Mr. Tito Ortiz on June 1. Following a brief discussion, Councilmember Erik Peterson nominated Councilmember Barbara Delgleize to the role. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Dan Kalmick and approved unanimously by the City Council (6-0). Mayor Pro Tem Delgleize will remain in her new role until December 2021.

Mayor Pro Tem Delgleize was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council in November 2014 and served as Mayor from 2016-2017. She also served as a member and chair of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission from 2008-2012. Delgleize is actively engaged in various other organizations that serve the region, including the Board of Directors for the Orange County Transit Authority and the Association of California Cities – Orange County. Over the next several weeks, the Huntington Beach City Council will begin discussing the appointment of a new Council Member to fill Mr. Ortiz’s vacated seat. As more details become available, we will be sure to share them with you.
