Beach Boys touring group kicks off fundraiser for Illumination Foundation

The legendary American rock band that brought mega hits like “Help me Rhonda” to the world’s airwaves recently helped Orange County’s nonprofit Illumination Foundation – https://www.ifhomeless.org – exceed its $100,000 goal for an evening of musical entertainment as donations continue to come in.

On Friday, June 4, a Beach Boys touring group led by original band member Mike Love, along with actor John Stamos filling in on drums, guitar and vocals, performed in person for Illumination Foundation’s Annual Chef’s Table fundraiser sponsors and VIPs at Gnarlywood Studios in Carlsbad, California to kick off the event to be held on Sunday, June 27.

Viewable online, the concert was a live and virtual version of the pandemic phenomenon “RWQuarantunes” fundraising events, the brainchild of WME’s scripted television department’s co-head Richard Weitz and daughter Demi.

Many other talented performers were also featured, all rallying together to bring awareness to the homeless population and those served at Illumination Foundation. Portions of the event were covered on Entertainment Tonight television.

This year, the Chef’s Table will be held outdoors at the San Juan Capistrano estate of Marc Carlson and Jacqueline DuPont-Carlson in keeping with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Jacqueline DuPont-Carlson and Karen Jordan are the event’s co-chairs. The estate’s two and a half meandering acres will provide a picturesque outdoor backdrop for a kitchen full of renowned local chefs to bring their extensive culinary chops to life, much to the delighted senses of guests.

Restaurants to be represented include Olea, Sapphire, Vine Restaurant and Bar, Ironwood, Toast, Villa Roma/Cambalache, Trevor’s at the Tracks, The Parkestry at the JW Marriott Anaheim, Haven, Strong Water, Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens, The Ranch, and Descanso Restaurant
This year’s event will also feature the skills of world-class chef Amar Santana of Vaca, Broadway, and The Hall Global Eatery at South Coast Plaza, plus an auction and plenty of surprises.

Proceeds from the evening will support the nonprofit’s targeted, interdisciplinary services designed to disrupt the cycle of homelessness in Southern California, including the Plumeria House Family Emergency Shelter, which is being updated to accommodate homeless children with chronic illnesses or physical disabilities and their families.

“Thank you to our sponsors, Richard, Demi, John, The Beach Boys, Gnarlywood and all of the other performers and people who helped us kick off our upcoming Chef’s Table fundraiser in style,” said Illumination Foundation CEO Paul Leon. “We look forward to a night of good food, good cheer, and mostly importantly, raising funds for a good cause.”
