UPDATE! Bolsa Avenue Demolition Activities

Crews shifted traffic to the new side of the Bolsa bridge over I-405 in anticipation of partial demolition.

Pre-demolition activities have begun and the second half of the bridge will be demolished over two nights, under full freeway closures.

Night One:
As early as 11 p.m. Saturday, June 26, to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 27.

Night Two:
As early as 11 p.m. Saturday, July 10, to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, July 11.

Additional nighttime demolition will occur for several weeks under freeway lane closures. Some daytime demolition also is anticipated.

NEW! Northbound (NB) I-405 Brookhurst Street Loop On- and Off-Ramps 55-Hour Closure

Crews will close the NB I-405 off-ramps to NB and southbound (SB) Brookhurst Street and NB loop on-ramp from NB Brookhurst for approximately 55 hours to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include removal of the existing ramp, excavation, placement and compaction of base material, rebar and concrete work, paving, drainage installation, electrical work and striping.

The ramps are set to close as early as 10 p.m. Friday, June 25, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 28.

REMINDER! Heil Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Falsework Installation Activities Continue

Crews will continue falsework installation for the Heil pedestrian bridge over I-405. This work requires full SB I-405 closures.

The SB freeway closures are set to continue 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 24.

NEW! NB I-405 Off-Ramp to Magnolia Traffic Signal

Crews energized the traffic signal for the NB I-405 off-ramp to Magnolia.

COMING SOON! Fairview Road Bridge Girder Placement

Crews will install pre-cast concrete girders for the Fairview bridge over I-405. The girders are the main horizontal support beams and are part of the superstructure.

This work will require northbound full freeway, lane, and ramp closures, as well as the closure of Fairview bridge.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule, closure, and detour information in future alerts.

COMING SOON! Bolsa Chica Road Traffic Signal Work

Crews will begin installing the permanent traffic signal at the Bolsa Chica Road/Old Bolsa Chica Road intersection. This work will require intermittent lane reductions on Bolsa Chica.

Activities include electrical, foundation, and concrete work.

This work is scheduled to begin as early as Friday, July 2.

REMINDER! North Gate Road Will Open to Traffic Soon

Crews are anticipated to re-open the San Gabriel River Bike trail and North Gate Road by Friday, June 25 to traffic.

Crews will continue street restoration work along San Gabriel River Bike trail and North Gate road. The pedestrian gate to Leisure World on the north end of North Gate Road will be closed, however, there will be access to Leisure World residents using their key card.

REMINDER! Partial I-405 Freeway Lane Reductions for Excavation Work for Goldenwest Street Bridge

Crews will perform excavation work and pile installation in the center median of the Goldenwest Street bridge over the I-405. This work will require partial lane reductions of the I-405 freeway between Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest.

The partial I-405 lane closures are ongoing 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., for approximately one month.

The NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Westminster is now open to traffic.

REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closed for Approximately 8 Months

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to the WB SR-22 on April 13, for approximately 8 months to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include demolition, excavation, grading, drainage and electrical system installation, concrete pours and asphalt paving.

  • Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m.
  • Nighttime work hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Magnolia Street Closed for Approximately Six Weeks

Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Magnolia on June 7, for approximately six weeks to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! NB I-405 Loop Off-Ramp to Bolsa Avenue Closed for Approximately Three Months

Crews closed the NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa on June 18, for approximately three months to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Magnolia Street Closed for Approximately Three Months

Crews closed the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Magnolia on May 11 for approximately three months to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Bolsa Chica Road Closed for Approximately One Year

Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Bolsa Chica on Oct. 27, 2020 for approximately one year to advance construction on the Bolsa Chica bridge.

REMINDER! NB I-405 and SR-73 Off-Ramps to Fairview Road Closed for Approximately 100 Days

Crews closed the NB I-405 and SR-73 off-ramps to Fairview on April 5, 2021, for approximately 100 days to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! Sidewalk Closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for Signal Work

Crews closed the sidewalks at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue for permanent traffic signal construction.

Activities include the removal of existing sidewalk ramps, installation of new sidewalk ramps, electrical and foundation work.

Permanent traffic signal construction began Tuesday, June 1, and will continue for approximately three weeks on weekdays.

Daytime work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson will be intermittently reduced to two lanes at the intersection for the duration of the work.

Nighttime temporary traffic signal removal and permanent pole installation are anticipated in early-July.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Almond Avenue

UPDATE! Crews will continue drainage system installation and excavation through July in advance of wall construction. Following this work, crews will begin working on the foundation of the wall. This foundation consists of cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) pile installation and is anticipated to begin in July and continue through September.

Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nighttime activities may also occur between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activity may occur at night.

I-405 near Bolsa

COMING SOON! Crews will resume installing piles for the bridge over the railroad along SB I-405 between McFadden Avenue and Bolsa Avenue.

Goldenwest Street

REMINDER! Crews will continue installing piles for the Goldenwest bridge over I-405.

Harbor Boulevard

NEW! Crews will resume installing piles for the foundation of a new retaining wall along SB I-405 between Fairview Road and Harbor Boulevard.

Activity is set to resume 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 23. Nighttime activities may also occur between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activity may occur at night.

Milan Street

COMING SOON! Sidewalk, curb and gutter work along Milan between approximately Stratford Avenue and Lowell Circle has been postponed.

Milton Street

REMINDER! Crews began restoration work at Milton Street. This work requires intermittent lane reductions in both directions. Parking will be unavailable between Hope Lutheran Church and Willow Lane.

Activities include drainage system installation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and concrete work,

  • Ongoing for approximately one week.

Daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with crews mobilizing as early as 6 a.m.

SR-73 Connector
