Happy Fourth of July from Assemblywoman Janet Nguyen

Dear Friends,

Happy Fourth of July! Today we have the great privilege and opportunity to celebrate our nation’s independence and freedom.

Every year, I join my husband Tom and my two boys in our community’s parades, family barbecues, fireworks shows and flying our American flag high. I am proud to share the traditions and history of our great country with my two sons and sharing with them the significance of the red, white and blue in our family. Those three colors embody the freedom my family experienced after escaping Vietnam, a communist government, in search of freedom and democracy. Our flag signifies my experience showing up on the shores of America, wearing clothes donated by local charities and being able to say the Pledge of Allegiance for the first time. I would not be here today, a representative of our amazing community here in Orange County, if it was not for the sacrifices of the men and women of our great nation.

Please, join me this Fourth of July in honoring and reflecting on what this day of Independence means to us. Please reach out to our Veterans and active service members and thank them for their sacrifice in defending our country’s values and freedom. Enjoy the day with your family and loved ones and have a hotdog or two!

Wishing you a happy, healthy and safe Fourth of July!
