In response to a substantial increase in positive cases and hospitalizations in Orange County and throughout California, Supervisor Katrina Foley (District 2) called on the Orange County Health Care Agency to resume daily reporting of COVID-19 information.
“Daily positivity rates have surged in neighboring Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Bernardino Counties,” said Supervisor Foley. “I am calling on the Orange County Health Care Agency to resume daily reporting of new positive cases and hospitalizations, including the percentage of those who are unvaccinated.”
In recent weeks, the frequency of reporting in Orange County has decreased from once per day to once per week.
“Posting information for the public should be the bare minimum we strive for as a County”, added Supervisor Foley. “According to Dr. Clayton Chau, our Health Care Agency Director, 90% of new positive cases and 95% of hospitalizations are from those who are unvaccinated. We must redouble our efforts to vaccinate our communities to finally put this pandemic behind us.”
