As part of the new city budget that started July 1, the Lakewood City Council has funded a new Deputy Sheriff dedicated to traffic safety—the second such deputy for the city.

This will provide more hours of coverage across Lakewood to reduce distracted driving, speeding, the running of stop signs, driving under the influence, unsafe driving around schools, and more.

Give L.A. County Deputy Sheriff Pasquale Mastantuono a wave and wish him well in his new assignment.

Lakewood receives little revenue from traffic tickets (most goes to the state and court system). Instead, the City of Lakewood pays for two traffic safety Deputy Sheriffs in order to reduce accidents and keep Lakewood drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists safe.
