Man missing from Leisure World Seal Beach found

The previously reported missing person (see below) has been located uninjured.

On Friday, July 23, 2021, the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a missing person last seen in the area of 13681 El Dorado Drive located within the Leisure World community.

Later that evening, the missing person, 88-year-old Lawrence Ray Murphy, was located unharmed and uninjured.

The Seal Beach Police Department thanks the public for their assistance in locating this missing person.

The Seal Beach Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating an 88-year-old critical missing person.

On Friday, July 23, 2021, the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a missing person last seen in the area of 13600 El Dorado Drive located within the Leisure World community.

Family members reported Lawrence Ray Murphy, aged 88, missing from the Leisure World community. Murphy suffers from Alzheimer’s and must be under constant supervision. He is described as a male Caucasian, approximately 6’2”, 235 lbs., with grey, balding hair, and blue eyes. He wears a blue or black knee brace on his right knee and has difficulty walking. The clothing description is unknown.

The missing person is believed to be driving a vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 2013, white Honda CRV with California license plate #8UDA310. The vehicle was last seen in the area of the Port of Long Beach; however, the current whereabouts of the vehicle and the missing person are unknown. Murphy does not have access to bank cards or other funds. It is unknown if he is in possession of any type of identification.
