AUHSD becomes first public school district to offer Google Career Certificates

The Anaheim Union High School District is excited to offer three Google Career Certificates in the fields of Data Analytics, IT Support, and Project Management–fields that are projected to grow over the next 10 years. This is the first partnership with Google and a public school district in the nation to offer these online certificates, which prepare students for entry-level roles in high-growth fields with no experience required.

“I’m thrilled that The Anaheim Union High School District and Google are bringing the Google Career Certificates to the school district to help students obtain the digital skills they need to thrive,” said Congressman Lou Correa. “Their investments today will help ensure the workforce of tomorrow is strong.”

Designed and taught by Google employees, each certificate is available on Coursera and includes over 150+ practice and graded assessments, quizzes, or writing assignments to ensure rigor and mastery. As stackable credentials, the certificates can be credited toward a four-year degree at select colleges and universities, and are available in 100 community colleges in the U.S. Graduates can also submit their resume to an employer consortium of over 130 companies, including California-based employers such as Coursera, Infosys, and of course, Google.

Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees President Anna L. Piercy emphasized the excitement at AUHSD regarding this partnership with Google and the great opportunity it provides to students throughout the District: “Our district works diligently to prepare our students for the 21st century workforce. This will be a phenomenal opportunity for many of our students to be “career ready” upon their high school graduation as these college level courses, taught on our campuses, will earn them a Google Career Certificate.”
