Full freeway closure on I-5 at El Toro Road and Alicia Parkway August 28-29, 2021

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has been notified that the Los Alisos Bridge Super Structure Demo work will take place on Saturday, August 28 to Sunday August 29 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. This work requires full freeway closure on both directions of I-5 Freeway between El Toro Road and Alicia Parkway.

Message signs will be located leading up to the closure to advise motorists to take
alternative routes.

  • Detour 1: Southbound I-5 off-ramp to El Toro Rd straight to Paseo De Valencia make a left on Alicia Pkwy and a right to I-5 southbound on-ramp.
  • Detour 2: Northbound I-5 off-ramp to Alicia Pkwy right on Alicia Pkwy make a left on Muirlands Blvd another left on El Toro Rd and a right on I-5 northbound on-ramp.
  • Please obey all posted signs and traffic instructions for the safety of all workers and motorists.

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while we perform this work. Electronic Changeable Messages Signs will notify drivers of the closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.

  1. That was one of the worst experience I’ve ever had. What poor planning to take five freeway lanes down to one and off the freeway. Many man hours were wasted that evening, including my family.
