OC Rescue Mission’s popular digital Children’s Business Fair returns

Orange County Rescue Mission is hosting its bi-annual Children’s Business Fair online for the second time this year, after it had much success in May. This event creates a positive learning opportunity for homeless children residing at the Rescue Mission, encouraging them to explore their creativity and learn how to start their own businesses in the ever-growing digital world.

“This business fair allows the children at the Rescue Mission to explore their creative sides and encourage them to think outside the box, all while providing the children the support and guidance they can rely on for future personal and professional success,” says Jim Palmer, President of Orange County Rescue Mission. “Hosting events such as these allows us to nurture and support every person who walks through our doors and provide them with the necessary means to succeed when they leave the organization after completing the program.”

To ensure the safety and health of every participant, the Business Fair will be held online for the span of two days. Community members are invited to support the children’s innovative projects which will be presented online. Folks will be able to show their support in the form of a monetary donation which will benefit the young entrepreneurs. All the net proceeds from the donations will be directly contributed to the children in the form of a gift card after the Fair ends, further encouraging financial knowledge and independence. The Digital Children’s Business Fair will begin on Thursday, September 9th and will end on Saturday, September 11th at midnight.

The Rescue Mission aims to give every child residing at the organization an opportunity to be a part of this highly educational event. With the success of the event that took place in May of this year, the organization identified seven new kids to participate in its “Kids on a Mission” program, designed to support and equip the young creators with age-appropriate business education. The Rescue Mission provides the workshop in efforts to prepare the children with the tools needed to succeed in the Business Fair, as well as helping the boys and girls tap into their inner confidence.

“We are extremely blessed and grateful we are able to offer this opportunity for the second time this year,” says Palmer. “The children excitedly look forward to this event every year and are thrilled to have a chance to participate. We hope the community is able to support the homeless children and be a part of this amazing learning experience.”

Community members interested in sponsoring the young “business owners” can access the Digital Business Fair as soon as Thursday, September 9th through September 11th at https://give.rescuemission.org/fair/.
