UCLA Bruins at a loss against Fresno State, 40-37

Fresno State was first on the scoreboard thanks to a short rushing touchdown that was followed by a failed two-point attempt. UCLA answered with its own touchdown and successful point-after kick, ending the quarter up one point.

The Bulldogs surged ahead to stay ahead with a second-quarter touch down and point after. The Bruins came back for a field goal, leaving them trailing by 3 points. But the Bulldogs weren’t finished for the quarter — they added another touchdown, point after, and field goal to end the period up by 13 points.

UCLA came back from the halftime break for a touchdown and point after but Fresno State kept the heat on with a with a field goal. The score at the end of the third quarter was 26-17.

The fourth quarter was a tug-of-war for high score. UCLA opened with a touchdown and point after followed by another touchdown but a failed two-point attempt that left them with a lead, 26-30 that couldn’t be taken away with just a field goal.

The remainder of the game the two teams traded the lead through touchdowns, with Fresno State wrestling away the victory with a touchdown and point after with 14 seconds left on the game clock.

UCLA will next play an away game at Stanford on Saturday, September 25.
