Seal Beach PD releases details on traffic collision at Leisure World that injured elderly man on scooter

An elderly male riding a mobility scooter sustained severe injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle.

On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at about 3:38 pm, the Seal Beach Police Department received a call traffic collision involving a vehicle and an individual on a motorized mobility scooter. The collision occurred near the intersection of Saint Andrews Drive and Church Place located within the Leisure World Community.

The initial investigation revealed that an elderly male was riding a mobility scooter when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The elderly male sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, and the driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
