The Buena Park Library will offer several free events for children during the month of October.
October 1-30: children 12 years of age and younger are invited to visit the Patrick the Pumpkin Estimation Station inside the children’s room to estimate the circumference of Patrick the Pumpkin. The children with the two closest estimates without exceeding Patrick’s true circumference will win a prize.
October 2-November 13: children ages 4-12 are invited to read to win In-N-Out burgers in the Cover to Cover Reading Program. Participating children can win up to three burgers, and children who cannot yet read can participate by being read to by a caregiver. Reading logs will be available for pickup in the children’s room during the program dates.
October 7, 3 p.m.: children and their families are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a fun game of loterίa, sometimes called Mexican bingo. Attendees will learn about the significance of loterίa in many cultures, play a few rounds, and perhaps even win a prize. This program will be held outdoors on the library lawn, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs.
October 23, 10:30 a.m.: Joe the Science Bro invites children in grades 2-6 to an exciting Science Saturday about rockets. Registration is not required, but seating will be limited to the first 20 attendees.
October 30, 1-3 p.m.: children 12 years of age and younger are invited dress up and visit the library lawn to paint their own monster rock, choose and decorate a pumpkin from the library’s balloon pumpkin patch, color their own trick or treating bag, and trick or treat inside the library. While supplies last.
