UCLA falls to Arizona State, 42-23

Despite a solid effort by redshirt senior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the UCLA Bruins fell to the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Rose Bowl, 42-23. Thompson Robinson accounted for 328 total yards, 235 passing and 93 rushing.

The low-scoring first quarter saw each time put three on the scoreboard. A scoring drive in 12 plays at the start of the second quarter put UCLA on top by 7, but that was quickly answered by Arizona State to again even the score. The two teams again traded touchdowns and points-after, then the Bruins jumped ahead with a field goal. That lead vanished under yet another touchdown and point after combo from the Sun Devils that was not quite matched with a second Bruin field goal that left UCLA trailing by 1 point at the half.

But the Bruins never scored in the second half.

Instead the Sun Devils added 18 more points to the scoreboard, leaving the Bruins eating their dust.

Next up is a road trip to pLay the University of Arizona on October 9.
