September 23, 2021

Suspicious Circumstances – 10:19 p.m. – 5100 block of Dumaine Dr. – The reporting party saw subjects loading unknown items from a residence into a vehicle and the truck drove away. Items possibly fell off the vehicle. Cypress Police was requested to dispatch a K-9 unit. A neighbor got hold of the homeowner, who stated that the property was vacant and no one should be inside the residence. A vase had fallen out of the vehicle and hit the asphalt. Police cleared the interior of the residence and confirmed that a burglary had taken place. They also found that the burglars had dropped safe and that there were firearms laying throughout the residence. The subjects opened a breaker panel and killed power to the house before the burglary. Surrounding agencies were notified regarding the incident. La Palma Police requested surveillance footage from nearby residents. Report taken. The loss at this time was costume jewelry and multiple firearms.

September 24, 2021

Pedestrian Check – 8:27 a.m. – La Palma/Walker – Following a pedestrian check, police arrested a 49-year-old subject for possession of unlawful paraphernalia. The subject was released on citation.
Public Works Information – 1:35 p.m. – Moody/Houston – Many screws were reportedly in the bike lane of northbound Moody from Houston. Public Works notified.
Theft by False Pretense – 1:50 p.m. – 5200 block of Ivywood Dr. – The reporting party sent $300 in Google Play cards to an unknown subject via email. Report taken.

September 25, 2021

Drunk Driver – 6:04 a.m. – 5800 block of Thelma Ave. – Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and performed a DUI investigation. The subject advised that he hit another vehicle on the freeway and had been drinking. The California Highway Patrol was advised regarding the hit and run between Fullerton and La Palma. A flatbed truck was requested for the vehicle. A 23-year-old subject was arrested for DUI and later released on citation to be picked up by family.
Suspicious Subjects – 7:24 a.m. – 5500 block of La Palma Ave. – Two subjects were reportedly possibly tampering with an ATM at the location before leaving in a black BMW. Police performed a traffic stop. Dispatch was requested to locate a Russian translator. A positive identification was made. Police located a skimming device on one of the subjects. Both subjects were arrested for fraudulent possession/use of a scanning device. A bank technician was dispatched to check the ATM.

September 26, 2021

Burglary Report – 12:06 p.m. – 5500 block of Conifer Dr. – The residence was reportedly broken into overnight. The loss was car keys. Multiple doors and windows were found open. The caller believed that the suspect was her ex-boyfriend and had surveillance. Report taken.
Petty Theft – 6:36 p.m. – 5900 block of La Palma Ave. – The loss was toothpaste and a duffel bag full of dental products. The female subject was driving a U-Haul. Police conducted a high-risk traffic stop. A male subject fled on foot while the female subject was detained. The female advised that the stolen property was in the main cab. Police located three duffel bags with toothpaste. The female was ultimately released on citation.
Disturbance (Juveniles) – 9:35 p.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – Juveniles reportedly threw a soda at the caller’s residence. It was unknown if there was damage; the caller believed that it was possibly an attempt to knock down security cameras. No crime at this time. The caller would contact the leasing office the following day.

September 27, 2021

Counseling – 1:51 p.m. – 5900 block of Thelma Ave. – The reporting party had concerns regarding fecal matter found in her yard. Police determined that the allegation that a priest was killing her trees and defecating in her yard was unfounded. After an internet search, the fecal matter appeared to be skunk droppings after they eat fruit from her tree.
Disturbance (Subject) – 6:11 a.m. – 7900 block of Louise Ln. – The caller advised that the caller’s ex-boyfriend was at the front door and that there was a history of domestic violence. The caller could hear the subject hitting doors or windows and advised that the subject was possibly on meth. Police conducted an area check for the subject, who was found to be gone on the arrival of the police. While the police were at the residence, the subject called the reporting party. When police advised who they were, the subject hung up. The father of the reporting party will take inventory of possible damage and call at a later time to report if needed.
Disturbance (Juveniles) – 8:36 p.m. – 7700 block of Valley View St. – Three male juveniles possibly broke the fence in three places and possibly hit an electrical with a skateboard. Police contacted the juveniles. There was no signs of damage to the electrical box. The brick wall had preexisting damage. The juveniles were advised.

September 28, 2021

Identity Theft Report – 10:54 a.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – A fraudulent charge was made on a credit card at Victoria’s Secret. Report taken.
Disturbance (Subject) – 9:21 p.m. – 5400 block of La Palma Ave. – A subject was reportedly refusing to leave the store. The reporting party was hysterical and yelling at the subject. Police made contact and the subject left the area.

September 29, 2021

Police Information – 8:10 p.m. – 7792 Walker St. (La Palma Police Department) – A power outage was reportedly affecting all City cameras. Everything else in the Communications Center was online and functioning. All power was restored to the cameras by 9:41 p.m.
