Pursuit by Seal Beach Police ends on Garden Grove Blvd. after officer-involved shooting

Update: Suspect arrested

Carlos Castro, aged 27, of Los Angeles, was booked at the Orange County Jail after being arrested for allegedly committing assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer (California Penal Code 245(c)).

On October 29, 2021, at approximately 12:44 AM, an officer involved shooting occurred in the area of SR-22 westbound and Valley View Street.

At approximately 12:38 AM, officers from the Seal Beach Police Department located a vehicle previously involved in an assault on a peace officer, and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle entered SR-22 westbound and was involved in a traffic collision in the area of Valley View Street. Officers attempted to take the driver into custody when an officer involved shooting occurred.

The vehicle continued off of the freeway where a second traffic collision occurred in the area of Garden Grove Boulevard, west of Goldenwest Street, where the driver was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. There are no reported injuries to the suspect or the officers involved in this incident.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
