Catalina Museum for Art & History has announced family-friendly programming for November, welcoming visitors with three different enriching activities to enjoy throughout the month, as well as a new winter wonderland exhibition Paintings for the Holidays.

In honor of the traditional Mexican cultural celebration, the museum hosts a Día de los Muertos Family Festival on Monday, November 1 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Bringing together cultural elements of the holiday, the lively evening of events includes dancing, music and other activities the entire family can enjoy.

Designed for children ages 6 – 12 to engage in creativity and art-making, the museum offers “Art to Go” every Thursday throughout the month, November 4, 11, 18 and 25. Art kits feature a specific project paired with an art lesson and will be available for pick up in front of the museum from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each week. Instructions and most materials are included. For information on upcoming projects visit CatalinaMuseum.org/calendar or follow the museum’s social media pages.

The museum’s First Friday Films series concludes on November 5 with a screening of Tim Burton’s 1990 fantasy romance Edward Scissorhands starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. The film will begin at 6:45 pm in the outdoor Ackerman Family Amphitheater. A variety of movie snacks along with wine and beer will be available for purchase. Tickets to First Friday Films are $12 per person and can be purchased online at CatalinaMuseum.org/Calendar.

Step under the mistletoe and celebrate the holidays with the museum’s Paintings for the Holidays exhibition.
