JSerra Volleyball removed from CIF-SS playoffs

JSerra High School self-reported that a volleyball player was determined to be in violation of CIF State Bylaw 207.B.(5)b, Transfer Eligibility, Sit Out Period.

This violation resulted in the CIF Southern Section being required to enforce Bylaws 3411.A and 3411.C

CIF Southern Section Bylaw 3411.A states the following, “Games in which the student participated, after the occurrence of the violation shall be forfeited. (See Bylaw 500.2)”

CIF Southern Section Bylaw 3411.C states, “Violations discovered after the first round of any playoff will result in disqualification of the ineligible player’s team from the playoffs, and forfeiture of its last playoff competition.”

Therefore, JSerra High School is immediately removed from the 2021 CIF Southern Section Girls Volleyball Championships. The finals game is declared a forfeit and El Toro High School is declared the 2021 CIF Southern Section Girls Division 3 Volleyball Champions.

Due to this initial violation occurring in the second-round of the CIF-SS playoffs, and the subsequent forfeiture of that match, JSerra will not advance to the CIF State Volleyball Championship Playoffs.

The CIF Southern Section will have no further comment on this situation.
