West Orange County Republican Women Federated meetings uniquely feature community activities. At its November 13 meeting, members and guests brought items for new mothers and mothers-to-be at Precious Life Shelter. Located in Los Alamitos, Precious Life Shelter was founded in 1982 when Theresa and Dan Sherrin took four expectant homeless women into their home. Since that time the non-profit shelter has helped hundreds of homeless pregnant women to become self-reliant members of the community.
“Although we are a political organization, West Orange County Republican Women Federated is very invested in the local community,” said President Nancy Hathcock. “That is why our November meeting celebrated the outstanding work performed by Precious Life Shelter. Imagine how difficult it is being homeless and then magnify that situation if you’re a pregnant woman.”
In May, the club recognized Sherrin as its 2021 Woman of Distinction. “West Orange County RWF is very proud that Precious Life Shelter’s founder Theresa Sherrin and its executive director Theresa Murphy are both members of the club,” said Hathcock.
