Pacific Life Foundation gives $375,000 to Community Action Partnership of Orange County

Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC), a nonprofit that provides support to low-income families and individuals, has been granted a $375,000 donation from the Pacific Life Foundation. The funds will be delivered in the form of a 5-year pledge of $75,000 per year beginning in 2021, which will provide more than 1.2 million meals for families in need of food assistance through its OC Food Bank program. This is the equivalent of 1.5 million pounds of food over 5 years, which includes fresh produce and proteins, as well as non-perishable items such as rice, pasta and more. Currently, the CAP OC Food Bank is on track to serve 46 million pounds of food in 2021, which is double the amount served from before the pandemic in 2019.

“We are eternally grateful to our longtime partner, the Pacific Life Foundation, for their generous donation over the next five years, which will help feed Orange County residents in their most overwhelming times of need,” said Gregory C. Scott, CAP OC President & CEO. “As supply chain issues and inflation cause issues for already struggling families, the OC Food Bank relies heavily on generous donations like this to meet the community demand for assistance. This grant will allow us to continue our mission of ending poverty, by equipping our residents with the tools and resources they need through the OC Food Bank and CAP OC’s additional wraparound services.”

For over 50 years, CAP OC has been providing solutions our community needs to survive, especially during the pandemic, with practical tools and resources available that cover basic needs. From the Diaper Bank which supports families with infants, to housing assistance and emergency rental aid, to the OC Food Bank distributing food through nearly 225 community partners, CAP OC provides support for those who demonstrate a need at its Family Resource Centers.

“The pandemic has greatly impacted our Orange County community, and we know individuals and families are struggling every day to ensure that they have enough food on their tables,” said Tennyson Oyler, President of the Pacific Life Foundation. “We want those in our community to have a greater ability to achieve food security. Through our 5-year pledge to Community Action Partnership’s OC Food Bank, part of our $2 million commitment to food security over the next five years, the Pacific Life Foundation is committing to making a long-term investment in a community partner who has the infrastructure, service programs, and track record to positively impact these families in need.”

Committed to enhancing the quality of life of those who reside in Orange County by working with a network of community partners to address the root causes of poverty, CAP OC works to advocate for reform to one day see a world where poverty ceases to exist.
