Republic Services announces full trash collection services will ramp up starting December 17

Republic Services and the labor union serving Huntington Beach have ratified a labor agreement following a strike that began on December 9, abruptly halting trash collection services throughout the City. Republic has announced that full trash collection services will ramp up citywide on Friday, December 17.

“I am thrilled to hear that an agreement has been reached between Republic Services and their employees,” said Mayor Barbara Delgleize. “It has been a challenging week, but I am looking forward to regular trash service being restored quickly.”

In an effort to catch up on missed collection due to the strike, Republic plans to increase their staffing and may continue to collect refuse throughout this weekend. Republic anticipates resuming their regular trash collection schedule by next week.

As such, the City advises residents and businesses to place their bins out on the curb for collection. Please continue to leave your bins out until your trash is collected.

Updated information will continue to be shared with the community on the City’s social media platforms and www.SurfCityBreak.com.
