COMING SOON! Northbound (NB) Brookhurst I-405 On- and Off-Ramps to Close for Approximately Two Months

Crews will close the NB I-405 off-ramp to Brookhurst Street and the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from NB Brookhurst for approximately two months to accommodate the freeway widening.

The closures are anticipated as early as 10 p.m. Jan. 3. The ramps are scheduled to reopen in approximately two months.

NEW! Nightly Brookhurst Street Bridge and Ramp Closures for a Retaining Wall and Utility Work

Crews will close the Brookhurst Street bridge and ramps nightly, for retaining wall and utility work.

The nightly closures are anticipated to begin as early as Monday, Dec. 27, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for approximately three weeks, on weeknights.

UPDATE! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closure for K-rail Installation and Striping RESCHEDULED

The NB I-405 closure for k-rail installation and striping has been rescheduled to 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.

NB I-405 will be closed between Euclid Street/Ellis Avenue and Brookhurst Street.

REMINDER! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closures for Westminster Boulevard Bridge Falsework Installation

Crews will continue installing the falsework for the Westminster Boulevard bridge over I-405.

This work will require nightly NB I-405 closures between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Willow Lane and the NB I-405 on-ramp from Westminster Boulevard.

The closures are set to continue 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, through Thursday, Dec. 30, on weeknights.

REMINDER! Southbound (SB) I-405 Loop Off-Ramp to Westminster Boulevard Extended Closure to CONTINUE

The closure of the SB I-405 loop off-ramp to eastbound Westminster Boulevard has been extended for an additional three months.

This closure will keep traffic flowing on both lanes of the existing adjacent SB on-ramp and accommodate the detour needed for the extended closure of the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Bolsa Chica Road, which is anticipated early next month.

The new ramp is now set to open in mid-January.

REMINDER! Sidewalk Closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for Signal Work

Crews closed the sidewalks at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue for permanent traffic signal construction.

Activities include the removal of existing sidewalk ramps, installation of new sidewalk ramps, electrical and foundation work.

Permanent traffic signal construction and the sidewalk closure will continue through December.

Daytime work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson will be intermittently reduced to two lanes at the intersection for the duration of the work.

REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closure to Extend for Approximately Three Months

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to WB SR-22 on April 13. The ramp will be closed for an additional three months due to unforeseen site conditions, to address complexities with traffic staging, and to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to reopen in spring 2022.

Construction Activities

Almond Avenue

REMINDER! Crews are working on the foundation of a wall along northbound I-405, adjacent to Almond Avenue.

The foundation requires an additional 15 cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles. Crews will use an auger to drill large holes, install forms and steel cages and pour concrete into the holes to form the piles. The work is planned to begin on the north end of the wall and will proceed south.

Beginning as early as Monday, Dec. 27, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one week.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activity may occur at night.

I-405/SR-73 HOV Connector

REMINDER! Crews are working on the foundation of the southbound (SB) I-405/SR-73 HOV connector bridge. The foundation consists of 8 cast-in-drilled hole (CIDH) and 35 steel pipe piles.

The CIDH activity includes installing large-diameter casings approximately 200 feet into the ground.

The steel pipe piles will be driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation.

Pile installation activities are ongoing and will continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, as needed, through Spring 2022.

Daytime and nighttime lane reductions on SB I-405, between SR-73 and Bear Street are anticipated to support the work.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
