Small aircraft makes emergency landing on Seal Beach

A small aircraft made an emergency landing on Seal Beach. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at about 12:38 pm, the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of an aircraft that had landed on the beach near the 8th Street Municipal Beach Parking Lot. Officers from the Seal Beach Police Department and lifeguards from the Marine Safety Department quickly arrived on scene and contacted the occupants of the aircraft.

The aircraft, a Cessna 152, made an emergency landing on the sand after experiencing apparent engine trouble. The two occupants of the aircraft were uninjured. There were no injuries to any persons or property on the ground. National Transportation Safety Board Senior Aircraft Accident Investigator Zoë Keliher was contacted and confirmed that the NTSB would not be investigating this incident due to the limited damage and lack of injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration was also notified of this incident.

The aircraft was towed from the beach and released to the owner.
