C.L.U.E. b’Shevat Seder to take place Sunday, January 16, 2022

Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) and the Jewish Collaborative of Orange County are so delighted to invite you to our inaugural C.L.U.E. b’Shevat Seder: A T”u b’Shevat Seder honoring the roots and fruits of Economic Justice Advocacy in the Jewish tradition! It will take place Sunday, January 16, 2022, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM, on ZOOM. To RSVP, visit https://tinyurl.com/CLUEbShevat.

T”u b’Shevat, (the 15th day of the Jewish month of Shevat) coincides with the beginning of spring in the land of Israel. Originally dedicated by rabbinic sages as the “New Year of the Trees” for biblical tithing purposes, in modern times it has become a holiday embracing the cycles of nature, environmental awareness, and other justice causes.

Trees are an essential life-giving force often taken for granted and needlessly destroyed. Likewise, essential workers are often under-appreciated for the important role they play in building a thriving society that benefits everyone.

Through music, readings, guest speakers, and personal testimonies from workers in the field, we will combine traditional T”u b’Shevat imagery of nature with the obligation to advocate for worker justice.

Around 20 Orange County rabbis and Jewish community leaders will be helping lead the various portions of Sunday’s seder!
