State Route 74 Safety Improvement Project construction schedule

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on State Route 74 (SR-74) and it is scheduled to have the following lane closures:

Monday, January 24

  • EB/WB near Juano Trail to San Juan Canyon from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • EB/WB San Juan Road (1.8 miles West of County Line) to end of OC County Line from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 25

Tuesday, January 25

  • EB/WB near Juano Trail to San Juan Canyon from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • EB/WB San Juan Rd (1.8 miles West of County line) to end of OC County Line from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26.

Wednesday, January 26

  • EB/WB near Juano Trail to San Juan Canyon from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • EB/WB San Juan Road (1.8 miles West of County Line) to end of OC County Line from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

There will be day time and nigh time flagging pilots to direct traffic through the construction. This is part of the ongoing SR-74 Safety Improvement Project that began in the Winter of 2021.This project will reduce the severity and number of collisions in this area by improving visibility and the operational condition of the roadway.

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while we perform this work.

Electronic Changeable Message Signs will notify drivers of the construction/closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
