Long Beach Community Leader Dana Buchanan announced her endorsement of City Councilwoman Suzie Price for Long Beach City Mayor.
The endorsement comes on the heels of Price raising $170,000 in two weeks and receiving endorsements from Long Beach Unified School District Board Member Doug Otto, Long Beach Councilmembers Daryl Supernaw and Stacy Mungo, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, among others
“I have had the benefit of having Suzie Price as my Councilwoman for the past 8 years,” says Buchanan. “She and her team have always been proactive and responsive. I know that as Mayor, all the districts in this city will benefit from her leadership, and, finally, experience what it is like to have constituent-first representation. She has her priorities in the right place and certainly has my support”
Dana Buchanan has been a resident of Long Beach for 42 years after moving here to transfer to Long Beach State. She is married to Chef Paul Buchanan and has one son, Drew, currently attending UC Santa Barbara. For over 20 years, Dana and Chef Paul have owned Primal Alchemy Catering and Events, and have been voted Best Caterer in Long Beach several times by local press. Dana is currently Chair of the Citizens Police Complaint Commission for the City of Long Beach, Assistant to the President on the Board of Long Beach Rotary, serves on the board of California Conference for Equality and Justice, and is a Friend of Pathways. She is a past recipient of 30 Women to Watch from the Long Beach Post, Amazing Woman of the Year for Entrepreneurism from the Press Telegram, and was honored as Mujer Empresaria (Business Woman) at the Mujeres Del Ano awards by the Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Dana is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach, Class of 2010 and was selected to participate in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
“I’m honored to have Dana Buchanan’s support in this election,” says Price. “She is a community leader who has volunteered her time and service to so many causes in our city. As a business owner, she has a realistic outlook on what it takes to make balance sheets work and the hard work and sacrifice that being a responsible leader requires. As a resident, she expects her elected representatives to work hard with a service-first approach. I’m grateful that she views my service model as one that can help every district in this city.”
