Caltrans announces overnight construction on Coast Highway in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues daytime and nighttime construction in the City of Laguna Beach and Newport Beach on Coast Highway. Only one lane at a time will be closed to conduct the work. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, February 14

  • Concrete profile grinding on 9 th Ave. to Vista Del Sol in Laguna Beach from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Tuesday, February 15

  • Paving at Los Trancos in Newport Beach from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Traffic Loop Installation at Los Trancos & Vista Del Sol in the Cities of Newport Beach and Laguna Beach from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Wednesday, February 16

  • Paving NB 9th Ave. in Laguna Beach from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, February 22 – Friday, March 4

  • Striping NB 9th Ave. in Laguna Beach from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please note there may be loud noise due to construction. This is part of the ongoing PCH Laguna Beach Rehabilitate Pavement Project that began in the fall of 2020. Project construction will continue on Coast Highway from Newport Coast Drive to Ledroit Street over the next few weeks.

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while we perform this work. Electronic Changeable Message Signs will notify drivers of the construction/closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction- related issues.
