Los Alamitos Rotary to hear from new Los Alamitos Police Chief Michael Claborn

Los Alamitos Police Chief Michael Claiborn will address the Los Alamitos Rotary Club at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at noon. The meeting will be held at “On the Green” at the Naval Golf Course in Cypress.

It is open to everyone and the meal is $22.

After honorably serving his country in the military, Chief Claborn started his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1996. Following a transfer to the Santa Ana Police Department in 2000, Claborn quickly rose through the ranks, ultimately achieving the rank of Commander. During the course of his career, Chief Claborn was instrumental in implementing the first full-time therapeutic canine program in Orange County. Utilizing grant funding, he was able to modernize an Emergency Operations Center, making it one of the most technologically innovative in the County. He has also authored multiple publications bringing awareness to the topic of officer wellness. He has also devoted years of service to community engagement, with a focus on youth programs.

The club will also honor Los Alamitos Student of the Month, Curtis Bradt, a student in the Sports Medicine program. He will be presented with a $200 award for his future educational endeavors. Rotary recognizes a vocational student each month.
