Caltrans commuter alert: Overnight construction on Coast Highway (SR-1)

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to conduct concrete profile grinding on Wednesday, February 23 on northbound Vista Del Sol and 7th Avenue in the City of Laguna Beach from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. In addition, the same work will be conducted on a small section going northbound before State Park in the City of Newport Beach. Construction work such as, striping and traffic loop installation, will continue this week in the City of Newport Beach and work its way down south to Laguna Beach. Only one lane at a time will be closed to conduct the work.

Please note there may be loud noise due to construction. This is part of the ongoing PCH Laguna Beach Rehabilitate Pavement Project that began in the fall of 2020. Project construction will continue on Coast Highway from Newport Coast Drive to Ledroit Street over the next few weeks.

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while we perform this work. Electronic Changeable Message Signs will notify drivers of the construction/closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
