Beautiful, the Tony and Grammy-winning Broadway hit about Carole King’s journey from teenage songwriter to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is “a must-see,” raves NBC. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music – she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Don’t miss the musical at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Monday, April 4 at 7:00 P.M. Tickets start at $70.
Long before she was Carole King the chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, a Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. As a teen, she fought her way into the record business and, by the time she reached her twenties, King had the husband of her dreams (Gerry Goffin) and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in Rock ‘n’ Roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice.
BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL recounts how the icon became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history and explores her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann.
The musical features a stunning array of songs written by Goffin and King and Mann and Weil, including I Feel The Earth Move, One Fine Day, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, and You’ve Got A Friend. Beautiful is written by Tony- and Oscar-nominated writer Douglas McGrath. Directed by Marc Bruni and choreographed by Josh Prince, Beautiful garnered two Tony Awards and the 2015 Grammy for “Best Musical Theater Album.”
