Long Beach Detectives arrest two suspects for the attempted kidnapping of a baby

On August 20, 2022 at approximately 12:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Pine Avenue and 10th Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, which was later determined to be an attempted kidnapping.

Upon arrival, officers contacted three physically uninjured victims, two women and one baby girl. The preliminary investigation revealed the two adult victims were walking their baby in a stroller, when they were approached by an unknown, armed female suspect. The suspect pointed the firearm at one of the adult victims and demanded the baby. A struggle for the stroller ensued between the suspect and two women, which subsequently ended when a vehicle driven by a second suspect, a man, pulled up near the scene and discharged a perceived firearm in the direction of the victims. The female suspect released the stroller and ran to the awaiting vehicle, which fled westbound on 10th Street before officers arrived.

Detectives from the Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT) and Gang Detail immediately started investigating the incident. Within a few hours of the incident, detectives gathered sufficient evidence to identify and locate the suspects.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., CCAT Detectives located a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle in the 400 block of South Occidental Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. Detectives approached the vehicle and found both suspects inside. The suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. Detectives also recovered two airsoft replica firearms inside the suspect vehicle.

The first suspect was identified as Stacie Earnestine Wilson, a 55-year-old resident of the City of Los Angeles, who was booked on one count of felony kidnapping and one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $100,000.

The second suspect was identified as Walter Keshone Sullivan, a 45-year-old resident of the City of Los Angeles, who was booked on one count of felony kidnapping and one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $100,000.

At this time, the motive for the incident remains under investigation. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office this week.
