Susan Shelley, columnist, and member of the editorial board of the Southern California News Group that includes the Long Beach Press-Telegram, Orange County Register and Los Angeles Daily News will be the featured speaker at the Long Beach Republican Women Federated’s Saturday, October 8, 2022, breakfast meeting. Conveniently held at The Grand in Long Beach (4101 E. Willow Street), registration starts at 9 a.m. with a scrumptious all-you-can-eat breakfast served at 9:30 a.m. The cost is just $30 for members and $35 for non-members and there is free covered parking.
Immediately prior to becoming a columnist, Shelley was a candidate for the California Assembly in the West San Fernando Valley. Her columns engage readers with information on issues of importance to them and her presentation is sure to inspire members and guests to get out the vote in the upcoming election.
AND … members and guests will also be decorating pumpkins for blind and visually challenged veterans. For several years Pat and Robert Windrim have delivered handcrafted pumpkins created by Republican women to veterans at the Blind Rehabilitation Center in Long Beach. The center provides comprehensive vision rehabilitation services tailored to meet each veteran’s individual needs and goal. Instruction is provided largely on a one-to-one basis and is designed to assist the veteran in achieving a maximum level of independence. The club provides all the accessories and material that allows veterans to feel the decorations.
“This will be an outstanding activity for our members and guests during our October 8 meeting as it shows once again how much Republicans value our veterans,” said Long Beach Republican Women Federated President Maryann von der Horst. “In November, Americans must elect a Republican Congress so the United States can return to respecting our military and providing them with the necessary support and tools to do their job.”
