Huntington Beach Police investigating fatal traffic collision at Beach Boulevard and Slater Avenue

On Monday, November 7, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) responded to a traffic collision on Beach Boulevard north of Slater Avenue involving a pedestrian and a gray Jeep Compass.

Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian, a 30-year-old male from Laguna Niguel, in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Compass, a 50-year-old male from Fountain Valley, remained at the scene and cooperated with
officers. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the Compass was traveling northbound on Beach Boulevard and struck the male pedestrian who was in the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard at the time of the collision.

The collision investigation is ongoing and being handled by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at (714) 536-5670.
