Gregg Young and the 2nd Street Steel Drum Band honor lost loved ones at Solar for Hope’s Third Annual Ornament-a-Thon

Gregg Young and the 2nd Street Steel Drum Band are excited to bring some holiday cheer to Solace For Hope’s Third Annual Ornament-A-Thon on Sunday, December 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Performing at this event is an incredible honor for the Band, as the Solace For Hope foundation was started by Gregg’s friend Don Lace, after Don’s son Donny passed from an overdose. Don is someone Gregg has known for decades, as they both are in the music industry and would see each other at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Shows for years. Their sons went to the same elementary school and were in Cub Scouts together.

Solace For Hope is a nonprofit organization “dedicated to offering safe and compassionate meeting places in Orange County and the surrounding area for family members and friends who have been impacted by Substance Use Disorder, Drug Overdose, and loss of loved ones.” Their mission is to share resources to help relieve the emotional pain that results from drug overdose or addiction.

The Annual Ornament-A-Thon is a fundraising event celebrating and remembering loved ones that have been lost. A nine-foot-tall Christmas tree holding photo ball ornaments, honoring missed loved ones, is the main attraction. All proceeds go towards Solace For Hope’s mission in “supporting families who have been impacted by substance use and behavioral/mental health challenges.”

The Ornament-A-Thon will be held at the Solace For Hope Meditation Garden at 145 W Main Street in Tustin. There will be live music, food and refreshments, a solace dedication, and a tree lighting by the Mayor of Tustin. You can expect to hear holiday favorites performed with Tropical, Reggae, Latin, Rock’n and Caribbean Grooves.

Gregg Young and the 2nd Street Steel Drum Band hope you can come and support families who have been impacted by substance use disorders, as you enjoy the holiday festivities with your loved ones. Their performance will honor Donny Lace’s memory.
