Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC), representing the seven separately incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates in California, has given State Senator Dave Min a 100% Legislative Score for their 2022 Legislative Scorecard. Senator Min, who is running for Congress in California’s 47th Congressional District, has authored critical legislation related to reproductive health care, domestic violence, and has been a fierce advocate for Planned Parenthood and the more than 100 health centers and 750,000 patients they serve each year.
“I am proud of my record fighting for women’s healthcare, and I am grateful to Planned Parenthood for recognizing my 100% support on this issue,” said State Senator Min. “Reproductive health care is health care. Full stop. We must protect access to safe and affordable abortion, and that starts with codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. When I am elected to Congress, I will continue to be a fierce advocate for women’s rights.”
In the State Senate, Min has proven himself an incredibly effective legislative leader, authoring 16 bills signed into law by the Governor, including leading legislation on family safety and women’s reproductive rights. When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the summer of 2022, Senator Min co-sponsored Senate Constitutional Amendment 10, which now protects reproductive freedom for all Californians. In addition to protecting a woman’s right to choose statewide, Senator Min was also a leading voice for bringing an end to the Providence and Hoag affiliation among local hospitals. The merger had not only interfered with access to basic health care, but also led to discriminatory practices against LGBTQ+ patients and reproductive services on the basis of religious beliefs.
Since announcing his run for Congress, Dave has been endorsed by champions for women’s reproductive health, including incumbent Congresswoman Katie Porter, State Senate Pro Tem Toni Atkins, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, and 21 members of the California Women’s Legislative Caucus.
Dave is married to UC Irvine School of Law Professor Jane Stoever who runs the law school’s Domestic Violence Clinic and serves as Director of the UC Irvine Initiative to End Family Violence. Professor Stoever is one of the country’s leading experts in this area, and has testified multiple times before the California State Legislature and met with President Joe Biden and dozens of Congressional leaders on behalf of women and children’s safety issues. Dave and Jane live and are raising their three young children in Irvine, which is in the heart of the 47th Congressional District.
Wow, and he’s proud of that?
