The Los Alamitos City Council votes 4-1 to confirm an ordinance exempting the City from SB 54, the California Values Act. Mayor Troy Edgar, Mayor Pro Tem Warren Kusumoto, Councilman Richard Murphy, and Councilwoman Shelley Hasselbrink voted aye. Councilman Mark Chirco voted nay. [Source: Orange County Breeze.]

Darrell Essex, longest-serving manager of the City of Cypress, passes away at the age of 87. Essex was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and grew up in nearby Pueblo. He earned a BS and a MS from the University of Southern California. Part of his college education was interrupted by two years of service in the U.S. Army. [Source: the City of Cypress.]
